Job Role: Data Engineering Manager

Job Description

• Provide leadership and management to a team of data engineers and coaching them to realize their full potential, while also building things yourself.
• Proactively drive the vision for data engineering across the various pillars and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
• Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability.
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Software Engineers, and leaders in business to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
• Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production.
• Manage development of data resources and support new product launches.
• Drive data quality across financial products and related business areas.
• Manage the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations.
• Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production.
• Experience in SQL or similar languages and development experience in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, etc.).
• Contributes to developing and implementing data & recovery strategy, policies, and procedures that ensure the consistency, availability, security and recovery of data as per agreed standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborates with line managers to identify the sources for all data in line with business requirements and security measures to ensure adequacy and compliance of these sources with agreed standards and regulations and to mitigate risks that may arise.
• Ensures all data of the client and their clients are properly managed, tuned, secured and maintained in form of database as per agreed measures and adopted procedures including those hosted within the client's data centers and/or externally hosted or with cloud service providers.
• Utilizes available tools and methodologies to monitor the availability and performance of database on daily basis. Categorizes information and communication systems by service tiers and ensures data availability/accessibility is committed to in relation to the tiers

WORK Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in IT environment in any industry handling a similar role in data base management.
• 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, BI, or Data Warehousing.
• Must have experience from Airlines/Aviaiton industry. 
• Experience scaling and managing 5+ person teams.
• Communication and leadership experience and experience initiating and driving projects.
• Project management experience.
• Data architecture experience.
• Experience in SQL or similar languages and development experience in at least one scripting language
• Experience in 24X7 critical operations and customer support functions.
• Must have worked in a high transactional volume and high availability environment with cloud-based environments.
• Experienced in recovery from data breach / data loss incidents within a fast-paced dynamic technology solutions and product environment supporting external customers.
• Working experience with different types of end to end technology stacks.
• Skilled in analytical thinking, identifying pitfalls and recommending solutions.
• Hands-on designing and implementing policies and procedures in line with business requirements.
• Capable for understanding business needs and reflecting the same in processes and operations.
• Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Employs technical expertise and interpersonal relations to achieve company’s objectives.
• Demonstrates the ability to contribute and successfully deliver against business strategy and set KPIs.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering/Information Technology/Computer Science/ or equivalent.
• Database certification (Oracle, MS SQL, IBM DB2), Big Data technologies and related.
• SQL Knowledge is essential.

Fluent in English Language.
